What is the power of your determination? Well, the dictionary says that determination is "the act of coming to a decision or of fixing or settling a purpose." Do you have that? Do you have the ability to come to a decision? More importantly, have you fixed your purpose?
Fixing your purpose
Many people have a problem in fixing or settling what their purpose is. The process can be a hard one, if you have never really thought much about it. There are a few guidelines I can give you, but use whatever works for you.
One of the best tools I know to determine your purpose is the pretend game of, "If money were no concern, what would I do?" The idea here is that if you had all the money that you needed to do whatever it is you want to do, what would that be? Think about it! Get past the lay around on the French Riviera idea and decide what you would like to do with your life. Once you come to a decision about that, you have your purpose, or at least a clue.
Another way is to ask yourself what makes your heart or your spirit happy? When you think about all the things in the world you might do, which one makes you feel light inside? Here is another way to determine purpose or at least get a clue.
Now please understand that you need to make sure that this is your purpose and not something put on you by your parents or someone else. That is not your real purpose, but theirs.
Coming to a decision
I put this part last because I think it is so much easier to come to decisions once you understand who you are and what you believe your purpose to be.
Some people have the hardest time making a decision. They stew and worry that they will make the wrong one and then be sorry and have to backtrack to set things right. My answer to this is to believe that your intuition knows what is best and go with that. Now I don't mean to imply that you should not do any research about whatever the subject is. I simply mean that when you have as much information as you can, listen to your heart and decide.
Will you make wrong decisions? Only if you are alive and breathing; we all do. I have no idea what the statistics are for making wrong decisions, but I bet it is pretty high up there. I know you have heard the old saying about the person with the most home runs is also the person with the most strike outs. We make mistakes. We learn by our mistakes and then we go on. Making a mistake is not fatal! Make your decision and move forward.
Finding your purpose can be hard, but you can do it! Remember that our purpose can change with our life at the present time. What my purpose to day is may not necessarily be my purpose a year from now.
Making decisions should be easy if you take the major amount of worry out of it. Do your homework and then listen to your heart and go.
